Benjamin Laur has enjoyed premieres of songs for voice and
piano, songs for voice and orchestra, works for chorus, and works for chamber
ensembles. In 2009, his choral octet “Set Me As A Seal” premiered
internationally at the Aachener Chorbiennale Festival in Aachen, Germany. In
2009 Laur also composed and performed The Letter of Jesse Givens, a set of songs for baritone and orchestra, in honor
of US Army Pvt. Fc Jesse Givens, who died in 2003 in the line of duty in Iraq. While
Laur’s current focus is voice performance, he maintains an interest in
composition. Laur studied composition with Dr. David Gillingham at Central Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance in 2010.
